Life After the Impact is a 501(c)(3) organization as well as a podcast aimed at supporting families who have been impacted by the trauma of losing loved ones to law enforcement violence. The podcast provides a platform for families to share their stories and increase community awareness.
The podcast also encourages listener involvement in the actions families are pursuing for accountability and justice.

Xzavier Hill
Life After the Impact was created following the murder of LaToya Benton’s son Xzavier Hill who was killed by 2 Virginia State Troopers at age 18 in 2021. Being faced with difficulties in finding an attorney willing to take on the case, leading them to take matters into their own hands, Xzavier’s mother demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience by conducting extensive research on Virginia law and filing a civil complaint pro se, representing herself in the legal process.
JAMAAL BYRD
His life was taken by Metropolitan Washington, DC police at age 35. He was a loving son, father, and brother. his mother Roxane Blanchard Johnson has partnered with LaToya Benton to create systematic change to the current system of injustice. This change will give impacted families access to the accountability and justice they deserve.
